Sunday night at the Stifel theater Smino took the stage for his 5th annual Kribmas benefit concert. This was the first time since 2019 that Smino was able to hold the event due to the Covid pandemic. The concert also served as a warmup for his Luv is 4ever Tour with J.I.D. that will be kicking off in the new year.

The sold-out event kicked off with DJ Nico spinning records. Followed by performances from up-and-coming artists JayBabyTheGreaty, Bari, and Jordan Ward who all are from St. Louis.

One of the highlights of the show was when Smino made his entrance onto the stage with an instrumental rendition of Curtis Mayfield’s “Freddie’s Dead”. That’s when he takes a video chat from a scorned woman who questions his whereabouts, that is when Smino ends the call abruptly; then performs “No L’s” which gets the crowd hype.

Performing alongside Smino for the evening was Schenay Mosley who provided background vocals and producer/hype-man Monte Booker. Smino set the tone by performing several songs from his new album Luv 4 Rent that included, “Pro Freek,” “90 Proof, and “Lee & Lovie among others.

Smino’s set was broken up into three sessions, with the second set bringing heavy hitters Murphy Lee and Kyjuan from the St. Lunatics, and Big Boss Vette. For Smino’s final guest surprise he brought Chicago rapper Saba onto the stage to perform “Life” and hinted at the end of the song that Ghetto Sage (Noname, Saba, Smino) may be working on new music.

Due to time constraints, Smino’s third set was cut short but not before Smino’s event producer Sienote surprised the rapper with a proclamation presented by St. Louis mayor Tishaura Jones declaring December 18th “Smino Day” which sent the crowd into a frenzy of excitement capping off the evening events.
