Tishaura Jones made history on April 6th when she became the first Black woman elected to the top position of mayor. I have got to say the last several months in St. Louis has been refreshing. We have seen Cori Bush, Kim Gardner, and Tishaura Jones change the narrative in the region. With these women at the helm hopefully their momentum will curb the systemic oppression holding St. Louis back. I only have one request, make sure we continue to get dope music events in the Lou.

We Are Root Mod- Let Love Live

We Are Root Mod

If you haven’t notice by now, I am a staunch fan of the St. Louis Hip Hop and R&B scene. This group in the picture above should definitely be on your favorite playlist…uh hem… #EnforcerFridays)! We Are Root Mod is a soul-fusion band comprised of  Daniel Fitzpatrick II, Bianca Fitzpatrick, Ithinkitsbbp, and Thomas Paden.

We Are Root Mod is a blend soulful music with a gospel-infused hip hop approach. Their newest single “Let Love Live” is a head nodding track that is guaranteed to get your day off to a good start. My hope for this year is to see this group reach new heights and success.

Doja Cat featuring Sza- Kiss Me More

On Thursday April 8th, Doja Cat announced she would be dropping a new single “Kiss Me More” featuring Sza. The much anticipated “Kiss Me More” looks to be the lead single or a push for her forthcoming album “Planet Her” that should be dropping sometime this year which she also dropped the cover for too.

Queen Naija and Ari Lennox- Set Him Up

Queen Naija and Ari Lennox have hooked up for a collaboration on her latest song “Set Him Up” which sees these two going back and forth over the same guy. Naija is schedule to drop her debut album “misunderstood” next Friday. If this song is any indicator of what the album will be, then we are in for a treat when “misunderstood” drops next Friday.

Belly featuring Benny the Butcher- “Money on the Table”

Anytime someone adds a Griselda Records artist to a track I expect high quality bars. That is the case when Belly enlist Benny the Butcher on his latest single “Money on the Table”. Belly comes off on his flossy rap while Benny provides his bravado rap style.

Nando- Here I Go

Nando has kicked this year off with new songs and now new visuals. “Here I Go” is the latest installment for the “Outside” emcee. The video catches Nando at the theater with his love interest watching a movie that invokes a few parody from your favorite films.

#EnforcerFridays
