Here we go again. Cue the “there could be more to the story, the video could be edited, we don’t know what happened before the recording started, he shouldn’t have resisted, and not all cops are bad,” advocacy that will now come from the Blue Lives, All Lives Matter , and national anthem support groups following the release of this video.

I am honestly starting to believe the police really don’t give a shit anymore. I seriously believe without a doubt they don’t give a damn about our video cameras while constantly harassing and assaulting us on tape.

At this point, so many of them have killed us on not just our cameras, but their own “body cameras” are showing their true colors, and they still hold their middle fingers up to us while they take our lives. I could say this is Toupee Fiasco’s America, but I’d been lying. This has always been the history of black people and the police. This despicable behavior that most colonizers can’t seem to believe is true because the police are outstanding individuals has gone on in the black community for years. Only now, it’s no longer a secret.

Now, America gets to see first hand how black people are not exaggerating about being abused by the police. But, the sad part about all of it is—no matter what we do—how we act—or what our economic status is, we are targets for the police. We’ll always be the villains and there will always be something we’re leaving out of the story.

Recently, an egregious video from December has surfaced showing former NFL player Desmond Marrow being assault by Henry County police officers in McDonough, GA—after an alleged road rage incident.

Apparently, in the state of Georgia, road rage is a crime that requires excessive force. Court documents state the former athlete says a white man threw a cup of coffee at this car while he was driving on Interstate 75. Marrow then proceeded to chase the man to inquire as to why he threw the coffee at his car. The chase ended in the parking lot of a local Target.

Marrow released the video on Facebook, stating the department was trying to silence him and he refused to participate in their attempt to sweep this under the rug. His caption contained details of the event and thereafter.

I Only Had My Cell Phone in my possession & they claimed to be scared for their lives. I had No type of weapon in my possession, I was arrested for having a Gun that turned out to be my cellphone. During the arrest the police knocked my teeth out, slammed me on my head and choked me out until I was unconscious. In addition, I suffered a shoulder strain and a concussion along with the heartache of my Wife leaving me during this Very Hard time for my short comings and careless actions. This has affected me mentally and impacted my life in a way I can’t even humanly describe. This isn’t a cry for sympathy, I just need it to be known . . . My cry is for JUSTICE!

Once again, we have a situation were these obviously poorly trained officers can’t decipher a cellphone from a gun. Sound familiar?

I am seriously trying to figure out where these super troopers are being recruited from? Is there some vision impaired, remedial class of officers that barely makes through the Academy that these people derive from?

Better yet, is there some old man who is the Sarah Huckabee of the department—with a cigarette and a box of doughnuts locked in the basement of a police department—who comes up with the monthly bullshit lines police officers are to use—in the event they just so happen to beat the hell out of a black person on Tuesday?

In the video, you can hear Marrow stating that he’s not fighting back after he has been slammed against a van, and then on the ground. He is then being choked and smothered as officers try to do whatever it is they seem to be doing. You can also hear an onlooker saying, “This is unbelievable.” Marrow eventually appears to go limp and looking as if he lost consciousness after screaming he can’t breathe.

Sound familiar?

One of the officers claims to have witnessed Marrow aggressively following the car into the parking lot. He then stated he saw Marrow “allegedly” arguing with the driver and passenger of the car he was following. Now in most cases, police officers usually assess the situation—get both sides of the stories—then proceed. But, when you’re black, it doesn’t go down like that.

A witness then told an officer they heard Marrow threaten to shoot one of the men, but when asked if he had a gun, Marrow said no. The report goes on to state that Marrow became uncooperative and that that’s when the struggle started (here is where you can insert the “I told you there was more to the story” line they use).

Marrow was charged with reckless and aggressive driving, as well as making terroristic threats. Since no charges for the other participant have surfaced, we’re going to assume the police allowed him to use his white privilege card.

As you watch video, which is going to piss you off, just remember one thing. These are a few bad apples and not all police officers act in this matter. Before we grab our signs to protest again, let’s remember somewhere out there in this magical place, a few good cops exists. Though they are as rare as a unicorn, they’re out there. Hopefully, one of these days, they’ll eventually surface.

But, until then, here we go again.
