Pack your bags because we’re going to back to Wakanda!
It’s official and Marvel has just confirmed it. The almost billion-dollar box office hit, Black Panther will be coming back for a sequel. But, are you really surprised?
Currently, Black Panther has earned over $500 million domestically, putting it in the top 10 of highest grossing films of all time. As far as worldwide sales, the film climbs closer to the $1 billion mark. To date, Black Panther is lingering around the $940 million mark in global ticket sales.
After shattering records of any Marvel movie ever to be released, Marvel Studio President, Kevin Feige confirmed a sequel was absolutely in the works. In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Feige stated:
“Nothing specific to reveal, other than to say we absolutely will do that. One of the favorite pastimes at Marvel Studios is sitting around on a Part One and talking and dreaming about what we would do in a Part Two. There have been plenty of those conversations as we were putting together the first Black Panther.”
Since the response from the first one was phenomenal, there’s no doubt the second film will do just as well. Without revealing too much about the sequel, Feige did say, “We have ideas and a pretty solid direction on where we want to head with the second one.”
It goes without saying, we will all be waiting in anticipation. Until then, we will gear up to see the character in Avengers Infinity, scheduled to be released in May.
