In business close to 11 years, Joanna Davis, better known as

JoJo, grew up in the restaurant business. It’s been her career since age 19.  She and her husband of fifteen years, Max, are the founders of The Shrimp Shack Grill and the creators of JoJo’s Miracle Seasoning.

The Shrimp Shack on Natural Bridge was recently expanded to become a grill.   “Everything is my recipe, [The food is] homemade and made fresh daily.  All the seasonings are mine as well.  The goal is to get my seasonings in grocery stores across the country.”

JoJo is working on her downtown location, JoJo’s Downtown.  This will be a 24-hour restaurant serving breakfast, lunch, and dinner.  In the meantime, check out JoJo’s House of Ribs featuring Max the Barbecue King at 182 East Grand.  You get double the pleasure because they sell barbecue along with the items sold at The Shrimp Shack.  Max’s barbecue is getting rave reviews and is the new taste in barbecue in St. Louis!jojo_davis_shrimp_shack

Not only does this sistah know how to cook but she has also been busy writing her new book, “Seasonings for Life,” which will go on sale September 17.  “I’m giving you the tips I’ve learned in my 35 years on this earth.  I’ve been through a lot and learned a lot.  Whatever issues in life, raising children (she has 9), finances for your business…anything you go through as an individual, I’ll tell you what I did. You will get it all, from life to recipes.”

But wait, there’s more.  “We’ve teamed up with Superstars of Soul concert, to help further our goal to help our community by providing an opportunity for some lucky person to win tickets to the concert.  If you buy a six pack of JoJo Miracle Seasoning, you’re registered to win 10 tickets with 10 backstage passes and if you buy one bottle of JoJo Miracle Seasoning, your registered to win two tickets and two backstage passes to see Ronald Isley, El Debarge, Keith Sweat, and After 7 at the Chaifetz Arena on September 17.” Part of the proceeds from the sale go to April Simpson’s April’s Angels Foundation.

Though details are still in the works, JoJo is also working on a television show called “Serving it Up with JoJo.”  She excitedly explains, “Celebrities are going to cook with me while we talk about what they’re doing in life, ways they raise their children, and how they give back to their communities to make them better individuals.”

JoJo has her hands in the social networking pot as well. www.JoJoSocial.com is a website allowing women and men to post blogs, videos, photos, recipes, and lifestyle tips!  “Its men and women connecting in positive dialogue.”  She has experts behind the scene that will respond to different issues.

Whether she is busy attending school events to support her kids, attending church, or cooking a JoJo Meal in The Shrimp Shack Grill, Joanne Davis never seems to show signs of tiring (or aging!).  Go to www.JoJoDavis.com for more about her endeavors.
