Now that the year 2021 has officially wrapped it is easy to see that St. Louis put in work creating awesome music videos. DELUX Music says thanks to its contributors and Editors for curating music experiences for our readers not just here at home but across the globe. Our mission is always to make sure our St. Louis sound is not just seen as a melting pot of East, West, and all points in between but a true originator of our own cultural music expression.

Junior x Nelly Fully Loaded

Junior has always been one to watch on the St. Louis music scene. Junior’s music over the years stands head and shoulders of industry counterparts. Add award-winning superstar Nelly to any mix though and you not only have a hit record or video you have a legendary track. This video shot and directed by JuanShotMe is nothing short of a cinematic masterpiece.

DJ K.Mean ft Mc Tre Step

DJ K.Mean is an invaluable asset to the St. Louis music scene. There is nothing the leader and founder of Mean Girlz Media cannot do. Step is an amazing song with great production by RUONTHEBEAT and featuring MC Tres who was a great addition to the song and had a breakout year. This video captures how both Tres and K.Mean moved in 2021 with military precision. Miss N Scene Productions use of black attire, camera and lighting created some hard visuals with this one and the replay value on this is just to the roof.

Murphy Lee ft The Hamiltones – 2nd Time Around

Murph’s 2nd Time Around album in general confirmed what we already knew the St. Louis living legend Murphy Lee. When it comes to rapping, bars, lyrics, or music in general there are few that can hang with Murphy Lee. The 2nd Time Around video featuring The Hamiltones is a full on letter to Murph’s day ones. Directed by Jewn8ug, the 2nd Time Around video is not only an anthology of a career that had great potential, it is a lesson to other artists.

NandoSTL – Here I Go

Here I Go is pure comedy in a dope music video. A series of reenactments of our favorite movies over the decades such as Baby Boy, Boyz N the Hood, and more. Directed by RabSoPetty and shot by The Film Legends this video is one of the reasons why a top music video look back is necessary. NandoSTL and his comrades had the kind of year any indie artist could dream of and with such a track record, we cannot wait to see exactly where NandoSTL is going.

Valencia – Amen

Valencia is an incredible music artist with amazing range and creativity. We first became aware of Valencia after Sr. Music Editor Elvin Chambers placed her on the Enforcer Friday’s Spotify music playlist. Amen is great song and the music video builds on that greatness by invoking the kind of fantasy that one would associate with a romance novel. Shot on location at the Cahokia Mounds Historic Site by The Film Legends and self directed by Valencia, Amen is worthy of replay and worthy addition to this year’s list.

Soniversary – Reggie Son

A Juan Shot Me production, Soniversary (Slide) is a fun vibe for both the young and old. Many of us remember when the youngin’ Shorty Da Prince burst onto the scene here on the radio and where he took his career after but now the brother has come home to make a statement. With incredible musical talent and knowledge of the entertainment business, it is going to be a thrill to see where this young man takes the city.

T Dubb O – More Lit

So much can be said of T Dubb O as a person. He has no equal when it comes to his list of accomplishments and More Lit is just a small portion of what he has done. There is no other individual that could pull off a video of this nature because no one else’s career reflects T Dubb O’s. Gritty, hard hitting, and actually about that life, More Lit, is not only a statement it could also be considered as somewhat of a warning.

Mvstermind – Square Up

Stolen Sun produced this visually stunning music video. Containing cameos of some of St. Louis’ sweethearts like Mai Lee, Alonzo Townsend, and Big Tone it is easy to why it made this year’s list . I would binge-watch this show if it were streaming on TV, the quality of this video is akin to what you would see on any major TV network or streaming service.

Smino – I Deserve

Kribmas came early to St. Louis this year as artist Smino came home to shoot, I Deserve, the lead single off the upcoming Luv 4 Rent album. I Deserve is dedicated to a beloved friend and St. Louis native Jason “Pooh Man” Slater. Directed by Smino and MadebyJames the video invokes a solemn introspective vibe as intended by the Kalbanx produced song. BMF also makes an appearance in the video as well as another artist whose video happened to make this year’s countdown.

Lydia Caesar – The Ones We Love

Lydia Caesar set the city on fire in 2021! With sold out show after sold out show she put her stamp on R&B music this year. The Ones We Love was shot on location in Forest Park and is a sweet video and reminder to couples. Directed by Lydia Caesar, SongbyTitus, VocalVision, DaniManage, and kayliahlove_ they created a visual that is almost as beautiful as the styling. The Ones We Love aired on BET and BET Soul which is a major accomplishment and another notch on Mrs. Caesar’s belt.

Jezus Rose – Bag (Theatrical Version)

It is always a pleasure when we get put on to great music and Bag (Theatrical Version) is a great example of that for us. We were introduced to Jezus Rose’s latest video by one of his fans. Visually it is very inviting and that isn’t just because of the models featured. Directed by Angelo Margentina the lighting, use of camera angles, theatrical cut scenes, and yeah let’s give it up to the dancers and models too make this an enjoyable video to watch. Produced by Ashley Booker I believe Bag is a sleeper hit and hopefully will be a breakout record for Jezus Rose!

Big Boss Vette – Eater

The high production value in this video made it a no-brainer for Top 2021 Video honors. Director Fonzy and the team laced this music video and created a visual for this song that quite possibly makes it the top-ranked video on this year’s list. Eater and for that matter, Big Boss Vette herself is unapologetically brash and ready to take the music industry by storm.

Stringz EMB ft Will Buchannon and Katarra Parson – Lights On

Directed by Andrew Stephen Lights On delivers on every level. Another cinematic offering with high replay potential the video checks every box. This version of Lights On is the second to be captured and published as an official music video. Perhaps Director Andrew Stephen and Strigz EMB knew that this version had to be made. It is an incredible video to watch over and over again.

Fresco Kane ft Nelly – Coke Bottle Remix

To finish this years list is Fresco Kane and the long-awaited remix to his hit Coke Bottle. Shot in Atlanta’s famed KOD we have Fresco Kane and Nelly voicing their appreciation of some of Atlanta’s finest. Directed by @directorcricket and edited by @directedbyjg it’s a sure hit for both of the city’s most loved and valued artists.

Jizzle Buckz – Jump

Director Fonzy had a very busy year. The last entry to the STL Videos of 2021 is Jizzle Buckz, JUMP. Jizzle makes the Major88Keys and Prod. Plutoboi track jump and the video uses many scenes to make an entertaining video. The cameo from Hitman Holla was unexpected and great to see. St. Louis is coming together on so many levels supporting one another and shining that Jump had to be added to the list. A huge shout out to everyone involved.
