Having beautiful, healthy skin doesn’t come naturally for everyone.
Many of us deal with skin conditions such as acne and eczema and, creating a routine that doesn’t make these matters worse can be tricky, and the colder months don’t give an excuse to slack off keeping our skin healthy. In fact, during the fall and winter, we need to continue to nurture our skin. So, it seems having a few things that can be done all year long is an easy way to develop a good regimen. With the millions of products to choose from, regimens to try and, products to use, we thought it would be helpful to learn some tips.
We wanted tips that did not involve experimenting with products or TikTok trends, so we asked Licensed Esthetician and Founder of Beauty Done Right, Bianca Edwards. From exfoliation to hydration, she provided some tips on how to keep skin healthy all year round! Here’s what she had to say!
Avoid Heavy Fragranced Detergent in the Wash
Relax on washing linens and clothes with heavy fragranced detergents. It’s best to use these in moderation or not at all, but especially during the summer as the skin is subjected to increased amounts of perspiration + sunburn if sunscreen is not used. Heavily fragranced sheets and clothes come in contact with our skin for several hours a day, creating the perfect trifecta for inducing sensitized & inflamed skin.
Pamper Yourself
Give yourself a full-body exfoliation treatment at least once a month. Harsh scrubs and too frequent use of scrubs can create a compromised barrier. By exfoliating with light pressure at least once a month you give your skin the chance to complete a full skin cycle with minimal risk of tearing the skin.
You Are, What You Eat
Stay hydrated! Not crazy about gulping down water around the clock? Increase hydration with juicy, water-filled fruits full of antioxidants. Watermelon, peaches, and grapes are full of Vitamin A, C, & E all very powerful antioxidants that help keep your skin healthy from the inside out. The water content in these fruits also helps keep your body hydrated. Hydration + Antioxidants keep cells healthy and functioning properly.
While these steps may seem a bit extra, they’re crucial to reaching skincare goals! Staying hydrated, using lightly fragranced detergents and exfoliating are all ways we can better the way we take care of our skin and keep our bodies happy. A great goal to accomplish! So by adding these skin care tips to your current regimen you’re sure to increase the overall health
