Rave Reviews for D.L. Hughley at Lumiere Theatre

“I laughed so hard my sides literally ache!,” exclaimed another satisfied comedy patron upon exiting Lumiere Theatre Saturday night. “We had the best time! Our dinner was fabulous, and that show! Girl, it didn’t STOP!”

That was just one of many glowing audience comments buzzing in the afterglow of a great evening. D.L. Hughley came to St. Louis, and conquered! From the opening act to the last joke, the effortless, seamless night of stand-up comedy will remain a highlight of the summer.

Saturday night’s 7:00pm show took off like a well-fueled rocket. The opening Act was Bo Last Name Dacious. He’s truly an up and coming comedic force! Remember that name, peeps. He KILLED it!

“He was phenomenal!” says Mishelae from KMJM’s Magic 100.3. We laughed so hard our faces hurt!”

D.L. Hughley was hands-down hilarious. His rapid-fire succession of audacious wit and comicality kept the audience on the edge of our seats. Lumiere’s warm vibe contributed to the feeling of being at a party with a group of great friends, and laughing too much. There isn’t a bad seat in the house! The crowd was engaged in a way we’ve never experienced. The show was tasteful, and still edgy enough to be truly funny. Even the audience members who were on the receiving end of his jokes couldn’t stop laughing!

D.L. spoke to Kenya Vaughn of the St. Louis American about his trip to St. Louis, saying, “I want them to forget about their problems for a while,” Hughley said. “They’re not going anywhere, but I feel like after having that opportunity to laugh and feel good that they will be better equipped to deal with them when they pick them back up off the shelf.”

You did it, sir. You did it well.

D.L. Hughley’s raw talent has kept him relevant in an ever-changing comedy scene. He has an adept ability to reinvent himself again and again, and in every genre imaginable. Not only is he an original King of Comedy, he’s rocking a syndicated radio program with Reach Media, among his countless television and movie credits. We can’t wait to see him again!
