I hope everyone has been enjoying their week? With these dog days of summer hammering down on us I’m thankful we have been gifted with some solid releases to get us through. This week new music Friday I have selected Joey Badass, and Mozzy as my picks of the week; plus we have new singles from Megan Thee Stallion, DVSN, Maxo Kream and up and coming artist Benji.

Joey Bada$$ – 2000

It has been five years since we got a full length project from Joey Bada$$. In spite of his hiatus Joey Bada$$ has been busy over the last few years stepping his acting skills up as ‘Unique’ in the Power spinoff Raising Kanan featured on Starz Network. 2000 is the third studio album from the East Flatbush rapper who debuted back in 2010.

Joey’s new album features guest appearances from Diddy, Chris Brown, Westside Gunn, J.I.D. Larry June, and Cappella Grey. 2000 picks up where Al – Amerikkkan Bada$$ left off with smooth melodies and dope bars from Joey Bada$$. Songs you should check out include “Where I Belong,” “Zipcodes,” “Wanna Be Loved,” and “Head High”.

Mozzy – Survivor’s Guilt

Mozzy has been one of the most consistent independent rappers over the last several years. From receiving co-signs from Kendrick to collaborating with YG on 2021’s Kommunity Service. Now signed to Yo Gotti’s CMG label, It is easy to see that Mozzy is looking to expand his Bay sound to a larger audience.

Survivor’s Guilt kicks off Mozzy’s newly formed relationship with the CMG label by providing consistency and versatility. That being said the guest features from his fellow label mates are worth checking out especially the banger “Smoke Nuffin” featuring 42 Dugg. I suggest you check out “Wouldn’t Be Us” featuring YG and Blxst, “Lurkin,” “In My Face,” featuring 2 Chainz, Saweetie and YG, “4Life,” and “Open Arms”. Overall Survivor’s Guilt is a solid offering from the rapper from Oak Park, Sacramento.

Megan The Stallion – Pressurelicious (feat. Future)

Keeping with the hot girl summer, Megan Thee Stallion has dropped a new single Pressurelicious featuring Future.

Maxo Kream – The Vision featuring Anderson .Paak

Maxo Kream is back for the second time this month with a new single “The Vision” featuring Anderson .Paak.

DVSN – IF I Get Caught

Benji – Jorja

We all need a song to get us on the dance floor and “Jorja” is that. “Jorja” comes courtesy of Benji and up and coming artist from Pittsburgh who has linked up with Spillage Village on this laid back groove that I think you will enjoy.
