Netflix has proven they are an entertainment powerhouse that compete with major production companies. These past couple of months they have consistently delivered content that has you glued to a couch. Ensuring the “Netflix and Chill” mantra stays trending, the popular streaming service has just announced yet another exciting new project!
A recent announcement was made that the green light to Madame C.J. Walker, an eight-episode limited series starring and executive produced by Oscar winner Octavia Spencer and Executive Produced by LeBron James.
Written by Nicole Asher based on the book On Her Own Ground by A’Lelia Bundles tells the untold and highly irreverent story of black hair care pioneer and mogul Sarah Breedlove aka Madame C.J. Walker—and how she overcame hostile turn-of-the-century America, epic rivalries, tumultuous marriages, and some trifling family to become America’s first black, self-make female millionaire.
Janine Serhman Barrois and Elle Johnson are also set to star on the show and legendary philanthropist and entrepreneur, Kasi Lemmons will direct the first episode. Octavia Spencer will star as Sarah Breedlove, famously known as Madam C.J. Walker.
