Gloves 4 Grades has officially started its fundraiser to build a gym, community playground, and enhance its community garden. on October 10th, 2017, the organization purchased a vacant LRA building owned by the City of St. Louis. The building and land is located at 4975 Davison, within the Walnut Park East neighborhood. Given the crime in this part of town, Gloves 4 Grades organization knows that it is our mission to provide opportunities for young people to stay off the streets and away from crime.
The fundraising campaign was kicked off with a Vimeo video from the founder Hon. Marty Joe Murray.
Gloves4Grades will be seeking partnerships with organizations such as SLATE/ Youth Build, North Newstead Association, and members of the community. The organization wants to take a whole community approach in building a safe space, that children and families can depend on, in the Walnut Park East neighborhood and surrounding areas. In a city where we see millions of tax dollars being lost to big developers Gloves4Grades will bring development to a side of the city that is often neglected.
Gloves 4 Grades are looking for a team of volunteers and supporters to create and build what they will eventually call their home. They strongly believe that it will take a team of volunteers with all strengths to come together for the success of the organization’s goal.
“As we know it takes a village; for our vision to come alive and grow.”
Gloves 4 Grades proudly invites volunteers, supporters, and community leaders, to the ground breaking in the next few weeks. Once construction is complete the ribbon cutting (expected Spring 2018) will be an event will be a block party with music, give-a-ways, and fun for the whole family.
