Anita’s tour is really happening!
Not more than a week ago, Anita Baker shocked the music world and fans when she announced she was stepping away from music for good. Â Now, if you are like me, you grew up listening to the soul-riveting singer at family functions and on radio stations. To most, this news was slightly heartbreaking, to say the least.
Though, lying in her retirement announcement was a glimpse of hope. Along with her 60th birthday announcement, Baker tweeted she would be doing one last farewell tour for the fans. With a career that spans over 30 years, we couldn’t have been more excited.
Confirmed by her team, her tour will kick off on March 14 in Jacksonville. It will continue with stops in Orlando (March 16) and in Miami (March 18) for the Jazz n the Gardens event scheduled.
According to Baker’s tweet, she wants to express gratitude to her second generation of millennial fans that keep her name trending on Twitter, and across other social media platforms.
Baker’s collection of songs ranging from R&B to Jazz, have been streamed countless times on Spotify and over 20 million times on YouTube. She even expresses her gratitude to artists of today, who have credited her for being their musical inspiration.
To appease fans who are waiting for concert dates and ticket releases, Baker shared the lineup for her Miami show on Twitter. The show will feature Chaka Khan, Joe, Salt-N-Pepa, Fantasia, and many other artists alongside the singer. The event is scheduled to be hosted by Rickey Smiley.
No additional dates have been given, however we will post them as they go on sale. Keep your fingers crossed and hopefully she’ll be coming to a city near you!
