Happy Valentine’s Day weekend to all those madly in love. For those of you who not boo’ed up, I expect you may be watching the Super Bowl eating a ton of wings, chips and dips. Whatever you decide on doing this weekend, just make sure you are not the sidepiece.

I am excited for this years Super Bowl halftime show. The NFL with the help of Jay-Z will feature performances from Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Kendrick Lamar, Mary J. Blige and Eminem. This will mark the first time that Hip Hop takes the center stage at the Super Bowl.

Though, there are those who have doubts about the NFL’s approach to dealing with sensitive social issues. The half time show is a small step in the right direction. Only time will tell how effective the NFL will move to address their diversity, inclusion, and equity policies. It is up to us to remain watchful and keep up the pressure for change.

Snoop Dogg – Bacc On Death Row

Snoop Dogg is back on Death Row records. This time around the iconic emcee is the owner of Death Row records after acquiring the rights from MNRK Music Group. This is Snoop’s 19th album since his solo album Doggystyle dropped in 1993.

Bacc On Death Row is a fitting title for his return to Death Row and the album is quite reminiscent of his debut. With menacing beats that remind you of that G-Funk era, producers DJ BattleCat, Soopafly, Hi-Tek, and HIT-BOY keep the momentum going. I had a hard time choosing my favorite songs because the album is that good. My only let down was not seeing more of Snoop’s old entourage for this well put together project.

Juicy J & Wiz Khalifa – Stoner’s Night

Juicy J and Wiz Khalifa have teamed up to bring us Stoner’s Night. The album is full of that hard hitting sound we love from Juicy J along side Wiz Khalifa’s laid back flow. The project is 13 tracks long and has guest features from Project Pat, Big 30, and Elle Varner. Songs you check out on this album include “Backseat”, “Weak”, and “Club Close”.

Cousin Stizz – Just For You

Cousin Stizz is an up and coming emcee from Boston who signed to RCA in 2016. Recently Cousin Stizz decided to go independent with his latest release Just For You. Stizz new album has guest features from Curren$y, Kal Banx, Charlie Heat, and Tee – Watt. Stizz is heavy on the lyricism so expect plenty of bars from the Boston emcee. Tracks you should check out include “Star Power” featuring Curren$y, “Blessings“, and “Save the Day”.
