June is Black Music Month so let us all celebrate the achievements that Black Americans have contributed to music. This is a good time to head to the museum, watch documentaries, or simply load up your favorite playlist and listen…don’t forget mines (lol). The contributions that Black Americans have made is worthy of exploration and I guarantee you will have a good time immersing yourself in song and dance this month. Peace
CyHi – EGOT the EP
The last time we heard CyHi, Kendrick Lamar dropped DAMN in the same year. That was 2017 for those who love waiting patiently for good music, I’m kidding…right? Anyway, CyHi has released a new EP titled EGOT following up his No Dope on Sundays project that was released in 2017.
CyHi was recently making rounds in support of his new album and stopped by L.A. Leakers to drop some heat just in time for the summer. EGOT is four tracks of CyHi doing what he does best, which is rap. If you love lyricism this will feed you until we get the full project from one the best rappers in the business.
Arin Ray – Hello Poison
In 2018 Arin Ray made headlines with the release of his album Platinum Fire. That project featured hits like “Take featuring Ty Dolla $ign,” “F*ck Y’all featuring SiR,” and my personal favorite “Sometime Ass N*gga” that showed Ray’s staying power. Though Ray has managed to go under the radar hopefully that will change for the former X Factor singer with his new album Hello Poison.
Ray’s latest project can be seen as a maturation from his last album. With songs like “Ms. Frustration” featuring VanJess, and “Storm” featuring Terrace Martin will set the tone for those late nights with your significant other. Hello Poison has guest features from Blxst, Ari Lennox , Ty Dolla $ign, Rose Gold, Childish Major along with the above aforementioned. Notable tracks you should listen to include “Nothing’s Forever,” “The Mood”, and “Freak”.
Vory – Lost Souls
Vory has released his debut album Lost Souls today. Vory may not be the household name you are familiar with, but his work with Jay-Z and Beyonce on The Carters, Drake, Bryson Tiller, and Kanye West should tell you that Vory is a rising star. Signed to Meek Mill Dream Chasers Vory is set to make his first impressions on the world with Lost Souls.
The 17 track project is composed of Vory’s rapping and singing abilities which gives it plenty of crossover appeal to multiple audiences. Producer 88 Keys laced the track “Daylight” which features Kanye West, other guest on the album include Nav, Yung Bleu, and Landstrip Chip. Notable tracks you check out include “Do Not Disturb,” “I.J.S.” and the title track “Lost Souls”.
Kendall Davidson – Catch The Vibe
St. Louis rising artist Kendall Davidson has released a new single “Catch The Vibe”. The single comes in preparation for his new album The Freshmen Project that is dropping soon.
