Music Review: Colin Drew – Beyond Amazing ft. Twista

King of Twelve Recordings’ Colin Drew is back and this time he is accompanied by the legendary Twista. “Beyond Amazing” is the latest offering from the crooner who’s goal apparently is to help the bruhs set the night off in the right direction when their ladies come home from a tough day at the office. “You’ve been working overtime and I been missing you baby/the only thing that’s on my mind is when I’m going to get to get ya, yeah.”  It’s grown man music with a great hook. “Cause you are Beyond Amazing (Amazing), Tell me what you need, Baby I will be right there, so whatever you find in the bags that I got for ya, put it on with the heels by the front door, cause you are Beyond Amazing, (Amazing).

Another highlight of this track of course is multi-platinum rap legend Twista. With his signature tongue twisting style, Twista boosts an already great song to another level. I made a remark to someone how music used to leave with you with a good feeling. Today’s music more often than not leaves nothing to the imagination or expresses normal relations between men and women. Twista’s verse has a ‘Overnight Celebrity’ meets “It’s Yours” feat Tia London feel and is exactly where I like to hear one of my favorite rappers. “Lil mama whats up? / You are what I call extra special
looking like you got the body of a princess/I wish I could take you out yo clothes/the most astonishing thing I ever saw in front of me you be killing me when I look at how you pose.”

I dislike comparisons between the old vs the new but Colin’s smooth delivery is reminiscent of R&B great Donnell Jones. Delivering a smooth vocal over the hushed tones and catchy vibe of Ronnie Notch’s production listeners will love the song. Beyond Amazing overall is another great offering from Colin Drew. Many may remember “Right Now,” and he is remaining consistent and on par to being an artist on the move in the industry. Listen below and be sure to be on the look out more from the King of Twelve family.
