Shakespeare’s A MIDSUMMER NIGHT’S DREAM To Continue THE BLACK REP’s 35th Anniversary Season To A Disco Beat.

 

A MIDSUMMER NIGHT’S DREAM, William Shakespeare’s romantic, magical comedy will be presented by The Black Rep as the second production of their 35th Anniversary Season,  running from February 15 through March 4 at The Grandel Theatre.

 

Chris Anthony will direct the play, one of Shakespeare’s most popular and most performed, setting it during the  colorful funk of the disco era of the 1970’s.  Chris, who directed The Black Rep’s acclaimed ROMEO AND JULIET in the 2010 season and was the dramaturge for their innovative 2011 production of PERICLES, is Associate Artistic Director of LA Shakespeare, where her youth education programs have gained national awards, culminating with ceremonies at The White House.

 

The cast of A MIDSUMMER NIGHT’S DREAM include Bob Mitchell as Theseus and Oberon, Monica Parks at Hippolyta and Titania, Daniel Hodges as Philostrate and Puck, Chauncy Thomas as Lysander, Patrese McClain as Helena,  Anthony Peeples as Demetrius, Courtney Brown as Hermia, Chad Morris as Egeus and a Fairy, Amy Loui as Peter Quince, Matthew Galbreath as Bottom (Pyramus), Ryan Cunningham as Flute (Thisbe) Phillip Dixon as Starveling (Moon), Candice Jeanine as Snout (Wall) and

Diamond Skinner as Snug (Lion).

 

Designers for the show are Dunsi Dai (Scenic Designer), David Warfel (Lighting Designer), Sarita Fellows (Costume Designer) and Robin Weatherall (Sound Designer).

 

After previews Wednesday & Thursday February 15 and 16 at 7 pm, Opening night is Friday, February 17 at 8 pm, with performances following on Saturdays at 3 & 8 pm,  Sundays at 3 pm, Thursdays at 7 pm, with an additional Wednesday 7 pm performance February 29.  Tickets range from $20 to $47, with student and senior discounts and group rates available.  There are also a variety of other special discounts available.  There are also a variety of other special discounts available.
