A few weeks ago the Grammys announced the nominees for their music awards. However, a few days ago the race for best Hip Hop album just got slimmer with Drake rescinding his nomination. Though it may seem like a bit of a shocker, it is not a surprise that the last several year’s artists have bowed out.

Hot New Music

The Grammys were once the pinnacle for artists and musicians but after several snubs see…Beyonce, Kendrick Lamar, and Macklemore. It is easy to see why many hip-hop artists have chosen to sit out one of the biggest nights in music. Personally, I would love to see the Grammys get it together, but then again is acceptance important?

Rick Ross – Richer Than I Ever Been

Rick Ross Richer Than I've Ever Been Track List, Singles Out Not

Rick Ross is back with a new album “Richer Than I Ever Been. This is the Miami Dade’s 11th studio album since his Port of Miami debut in 2006. At this point of Ross’s career there is little to prove as an artist.

Ross latest project has a ton of features from Benny the Butcher, Wale, Future, Blxst, Jazmine Sullivan and 21 Savage. The album is well balanced with songs for the club, to the street hop. Songs you should check out is “Warm Words in a Cold World”, “Outlawz“, “Made it Out Alive”, and “Little Havana”.

Alicia Keys – Keys

Alicia Keys has been excited about her new project Keys. A few months ago Keys released a docuseries “Noted: Alicia Keys The Untold Story“, giving us a behind the scenes of her life and music. Keys is a double album of what Keys describes as the Originals, and Unlocked.

The Originals disc is that sound we have come to love from Alicia Keys through the years. While the latter of the two Unlocked is Mrs Keys exploring her range and new styles. The project features Lil Wayne, Khalid, Lucky Daye, Swae Lee, and Pusha T. My favorite songs on the project as of right now include “Lala”, “Come For Me”, “Beautiful”, and “Best of Me”.

Big Boi & Sleepy Brown – The Big Sleep Over

Big Boi and Sleepy Brown have teamed up for a joint collaboration The Big Sleepover. These two have been teaming up since back in the day when Outkast released the hit song “Way You Move“. The Big Sleep Over is composed of the hip hop and funk we have come to love from these Dungeon Family members.

The project features extensions from the Dungeon Family collective such as Killer Mike, Cee-Lo, Backbone, and Big Rube. My favorite tracks on the album are “Animalz”, “Doin’ It”, and Lower Case.
