HOME RUNS FOR HUNGER

Lumière Place and River City Casino To Donate $1000 To Operation Food Search For EVERY Cardinals Home Run Scored During The Series

In an effort to knock out hunger while the Red Birds knock it out of the ballpark, Lumière Place and River City Casino are proud to announce they will donate $1000.00 to Operation Food Search for EVERY St. Louis Cardinals home run scored during the Series.

“We are sliding into the holiday season and sadly, need is up twenty percent over last year,” said Sunny Schaefer, Executive Director of Operation Food Search.   “We are so grateful Lumière Place and River City Casino are stepping up to the plate to help us with their ‘Home Runs For Hunger’ campaign.  $1000 for every Cards run scored during the entire Series will feed a lot of families in need–at such a critical time.”

Established in 1981 to address the growing problem of hunger, Operation Food Search has become the largest distributor of free food in the St. Louis bi-state region helping to feed the area’s poor and hungry.  Each month, Operation Food Search distributes more than two million pounds of food and household items to more than 150 community agencies that in turn feed more than 130,000 people every single month, nearly half of whom are children.

“Lumière Place and River City Casino are huge fans of Operation Food Search because for every $1 in donations, this organization can collect and distribute $20 worth of food which is an impressive record.  And what better time to strike out hunger than while our Cards are striking out the Rangers,” said Neil Walkoff, Senior Vice President over Lumière Place and its sister casino, River City Casino.
