On Saturday, September 14 from 12 to 4 pm, come play on St. Vincent Greenway and celebrate health and community at the 2nd Annual Jazz on the Greenway. This year, Jazz on the Greenway will partner with City of St. Louis’ Open Streets initiative to encourage City residents of all ages to be active and social while exploring the hidden gems in unique City neighborhoods by foot or bicycle.
The event will feature the West End neighborhood with support of community partners in neighboring DeBaliviere Place and Skinker-DeBaliviere neighborhoods of St. Louis City and the municipality of Wellston, in an effort to connect communities across the Delmar Divide of St. Louis City, as well as across the City-County divide.
Come walk, jog, or bike and enjoy live jazz by Uncensored Band, dance and fitness workshops led by Casa de Salud, St. Louis Dancing Classrooms, Pinx Academy of Dance, and Healthy Effective Alternatives to Live, farmer’s markets hosted by Better Family Life and International Institute, participation by Luxurious Bike Club, walking tours by Preservation Research and Creative Exchange Lab, bike repair and bike decorating, sports activities, healthy cooking demos, food, vendors, art, and much more along St. Vincent Greenway.
The event will take place along St. Vincent Greenway, starting at Ruth Porter Mall at Delmar and DeBaliviere and ending at Skinker and Etzel. Attendees are encouraged to check out partner events on or near the Greenway, including More than Carpentry’s Fall Festival in Wellston, Better Family Life’s Farmer’s Market, and International Institute’s Farmer’s Market.
St. Vincent Greenway is a biking and walking trail established by Great Rivers Greenway. The trail, when complete, will run over 7 miles between Forest Park to NorthPark, just north of University of Missouri-St. Louis, connecting the neighborhoods of West End, DeBaliviere Place, and Skinker-DeBaliviere in St. Louis City, as well as the municipalities of Wellston, Pagedale, Normandy, Bellerive, Glendale, and Bel-Nor. The trail is currently complete in the West End neighborhood of St. Louis City through the recently revitalized Ruth Porter Mall, as well as through St. Vincent Park and University of Missouri-St. Louis in St. Louis County.
Jazz on the Greenway is hosted by St. Vincent Greenway, Inc. in partnership with Great Rivers Greenway and City of St. Louis and supported by 26th Alderman Frank Williamson and 22nd Alderman Jeffrey Boyd.
