Midwest Filmmaker Workshops will host their seventh workshop in their inaugural series entitled, Independent Film Producing. This day-long presentation will take place on Saturday, September 26, 2015 from 8:30 am until 5:00 pm at Barlow Productions, located at 1115 Olivette Executive Parkway, St. Louis, Missouri 63132.

The Independent Film Producing workshop will feature guest instructor Srikant Chellappa, a veteran independent feature film producer based in St. Louis.

 

Chellappa has produced five feature films, with budgets that have ranged between $100,000 to just under $1 million. His casts have included films actors such as Judge Reinhold, Florence Henderson, Pam Grier, Kevin Sorbo, Jason London, Danielle Harris, Stacey Dash and Elisabeth Rohm. His films have played in over 60 countries, have aired on cable channels including Showtime, NBC Universal Fox International Channels, Sky World internationally; and domestically on Netflix, Hulu, Amazon Prime and Redbox across the United States.

Producing a feature film is a three-phased approach: (1) Developing, (2) Producing, and (3) Selling, and producers can do one or more of these three phases. Midwest Filmmakers Workshops will discuss and determine what type of producer each participant is and want to be. At end of the session, attendees will have all the tools, techniques and unspoken secrets of what it takes to be a successful producer.

This workshop will teach the skills, steps and the legal framework of making an independent feature film, by putting together a step-by-step plan to develop, produce and sell feature films. Workshop instructors will focus on a feature film with a budget of under $1 million but more than $100,000. The format of this workshop will be hands-on workbook style approach.

A discount rate of $75 is being offered for “early bird” registration by September 19th. The discounted rate is also available for Students and Seniors with a valid ID. Tickets will also be available at the door the day of the event for $100.
