St. Louis brought the color. San Diego took the points.
St. Louis CITY SC fell 1–0 to San Diego FC at Energizer Park on October 31, 2026, closing its home regular-season schedule with a narrow defeat. Anders Dreyer’s first-half goal proved decisive on an afternoon that paired MLS action with Halloween festivities and Fan Appreciation Day.
For the 22,423 fans in attendance, the result was a frustrating finish to the home slate. CITY entered the match with an opportunity to give its supporters one more regular-season victory in St. Louis, but San Diego left with the clean sheet.
Anders Dreyer Delivers the Difference

Dreyer supplied the afternoon’s only goal with a left-footed strike from outside the penalty area. Alejandro Alvarado and Marcus Ingvartsen received assists on the play.
Neither club scored after halftime, leaving CITY without the equalizer it needed.
Dreyer was already a central figure in San Diego’s attack heading into the matchup. CITY’s official preview listed him with 14 goals and 13 assists entering Saturday, while Ingvartsen had contributed 12 goals.
The visitors also arrived looking for a reset. San Diego had gone 10 matches without a victory and was coming off a 4–1 loss to Vancouver Whitecaps FC. Winning in St. Louis ended that stretch.
CITY Creates Chances but Finishes Scoreless

St. Louis finished with a 16–12 advantage in total shots and recorded seven shots on target to San Diego’s three. Both clubs earned three corner kicks.
The shot totals underline the frustration: CITY generated opportunities, but the advantage did not translate into a goal.
The matchup continued a difficult trend against San Diego. Before Saturday, CITY had recorded one draw and two defeats in the clubs’ first three MLS regular-season meetings. That included a 2–0 loss at Snapdragon Stadium on March 1, when Dreyer and Ingvartsen scored.
With the Halloween result, St. Louis remained without a win or a goal in four league meetings between the clubs.
Riley Lynch Makes His MLS Debut

There was a personal milestone amid the disappointment. Riley Lynch made his MLS debut, entering for Conrad Wallem in the 79th minute.
CITY also introduced Fallou Fall, Simon Becher, Tomas Ostrak and Damion Downs during the second half. The changes did not produce a breakthrough before the final whistle.
Halloween Meets Fan Appreciation in St. Louis

Off the field, the club’s matchday plans gave families plenty of reasons to arrive early.
The scheduled CITY Block Party began at 11 a.m., featuring music from Stazi, local food options, games, free face painting and a fall photo opportunity. Children 12 and younger could follow a Trick-or-Treat Trail around Energizer Park, collecting candy and goodies, with a Halloween cookie offered for completing the route.
The club also advertised $5 hot dogs, beer, popcorn and pretzels, along with a special Halloween cocktail and merchandise savings. Fans entering the stadium were offered a FOR THE CITY rally towel courtesy of Moneta.
That combination made the home finale a day built around both soccer and the people who fill the stands. The result offered disappointment; the Fan Appreciation programming put the supporters at the center of the occasion.
