After two seasons of extravagant fashion productions, including West’s album release/ party/fashion show at Madison Square Garden — musical genius Kanye West set a subtle tone with Yeezy season 5. To begin with, the intimate venue Pier 54 Studios held the designer’s fashion presentation this year. Usually a mainstream and hectic fashion week go-to, Pier 54 embodied a poised atmosphere strategically influenced by Mr. West. To uphold the calming vibe, invitees were encouraged to reframe from cell phones and social media engagement during the show.

Showtime:

The time is 3 pm. The venue began to fill. Familiar faces as LaLa Anthony and Kylie Jenner were spotted finding their seats. Promptly at 3:30, the room dimmed and the show began. The Dream’s rendition of J. Holiday’s “Bed” commenced. Unlike previous seasons, West’s unveiled his creations using a massive floor-to-ceiling screen.The idea of this concept was that each person be given a detailed insight of every piece, — the In Your Face effect.

Army fatigue prints and Ready-to-wear fashions could be seen dominating Yezzy 5. Branding CALABASAS x Adidias , West referenced his residency and business on several pieces of the line; by showing the emblem. The designer incorporated different dynamics of denim and the now trending Parka jacket. Kanye’s take of the classic Adidas track pant, by transforming it into On-the-Go fashion; shows the creativity of the designer isn’t slowing down anytime soon.

Footwear

This season, a new generation from Kanye emerged. What’s being referred to as the Adidas Yeezy Runner, West gives an updated take on a ’90s tech running look, it was defined by its exaggerated outsole. The previously controversial wader stiletto boots were back as well, this time in camo canvas, patent and suede. The construction has improved; since last season’s mishap of a model’s heel breaking, midway through runway.

The show concluded with the traditional, live model walk through. Kanye West never emerged, but the audience’s applause stamped the success of the show.
