A Run in With A Cancer Patient Helped this Wig Maker Create a Multi-Million Dollar Hair Piece Adhesive Brand
Tamika Gibson, founder of The Hair Diagram and Bold Hold products has taken the world of extensions by storm. Over the past two decades Tamika has leveraged her profession as a Celebrity Stylist to a quickly emerging beauty boss!
Though she always had a passion for hair, Tamika started off as a teacher and spent time in the military as a sergeant where she quickly became known for her hairstyling abilities.
Shortly after, she would make the decision to attend cosmetology school. There she had a run in with a cancer patient whom she created a wig for. The patient’s excitement about how real the wig looked and how it made her feel like herself again really touched Tamika. This chance encounter would set the tone for Tamika’s passion for helping people feel confident inside and out.
After being a professional cosmetologist and celebrity wigologist for almost two decades and gaining recognition for creating the 45-minute sew in, Tamika regained her desire to teach and created The Hair Diagram educational platform for aspiring stylist. Here Tamika teaches hair, business and branding techniques; and she personally mentors many of her students aiming to help them build from within.
With over twenty years in the industry, Tamika used her knowledge to create Bold Hold products. This was prompted by her frustration with the quality of other adhesives and the growing popularity of hairpieces. She began to showcase her knowledge on Instagram and YouTube. Tamika’s trusted industry reputation coupled with her knack for social media quickly evolved and her reputation skyrocketed internationally!
Many who follow the Bold Hold brand love the products but don’t know much about how the brand was started. As popular as wigs and hairpieces are amongst people who rely on them for style, the brand’s top-selling product is the Lace Wig Tape, which is most commonly used by hair loss patients. This truly speaks to the need for the products and echoes how much of a difference the products impact people’s lives. Today Bold Hold products can be found in every beauty supply store in the U.S. and thousands in other countries and are the #1 lace adhesive worldwide! Allure, ELLE, and Cosmopolitan.com have recently featured Tamika and Bold Hold.
