Looking for a fun, action-packed way to spend a Saturday with the family? On October 19, 2024, Metro Theater Company (MTC), in partnership with Soundwave Xpo, invites families to “It’s Hero Time!” at the Missouri History Museum. This event, running from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM, is free and open to the public, offering a day filled with superhero-themed excitement.

Family-Friendly Fun for All Ages

This event is perfect for superhero fans of all ages. Whether you come dressed as your favorite comic book hero or rock your best superhero t-shirt, you’ll be able to enjoy a variety of activities, including a gaming room, a coloring station, cosplay photoshoots, a museum scavenger hunt, a live DJ, and local vendors. Plus, The Key Bistro will be offering food for purchase to keep everyone energized throughout the day.

World Premiere of An Unlikely Hero

One of the day’s highlights is the world premiere of An Unlikely Hero, a new superhero play written by Emilio Rodriguez. The story follows Jordan, a comic book-loving student who doesn’t quite fit in at school. After receiving an invitation to attend Haven High, a school for superheroes, Jordan embarks on a journey of self-discovery to find out whether they’re destined to be a hero or villain. This exciting production has been commissioned by Metro Theater Company, Trike Theater, and the Arkansas Museum of Fine Art, with support from the National Endowment for the Arts and the Whitaker Foundation.

There are two opportunities to catch the show, at 10:30 AM and 2:00 PM, but seats are limited. Thanks to the generosity of The Norm Way, 250 free community tickets are available, so families are encouraged to reserve them early at metroplays.org.
