A statement from Ferguson Commission Co-Chairs Rev. Starsky Wilson and Rich McClure
FERGUSON COMMISSION CO-CHAIRS RESPOND TO VIOLENCE
CALL FOR REGIONAL ENGAGEMENT AT ALL LEVELS
Our thoughts are with the two police officers and their families as they recover from their injuries resulting from Tuesday night’s senseless violence. Violence is never productive – causing fear, stoking mistrust and casting a shadow over any productive attempts to heal our community. The St. Louis region’s stark reality is this: we must engage at all levels to address the underlying social and economic conditions that impede access to progress, equality and safety for all of our citizens. We must be bold and we must be unflinching.
Our best wishes to the injured officers for a full and speedy recovery.
Our best wishes to our community for healing and the strength to do what must be done to bring about lasting positive change.
