I know it is the day after Thanksgiving, Black Friday, and you are probably searching high and low for the PlayStation 5, which is probably sold out. Anyway, you definitely will need some new music to fill that time in between driving store to store, or internet shopping since this is the Covid era. I am here to supply your needs with my weekly picks of Hip Hop and R&B that you check out here.
This was also an exciting week in music as the Grammy’s announced the nominations for hip hop awards this year. Surprisingly different from years past when Kendrick Lamar was snubbed over Macklemore for best hip-hop album. It looks as if the Grammy’s committee is paying attention to the genre.
The list for best albums this year seems more focus on lyrical content than in years past. I don’t know if this was due to all the social issues that have been addressed in the Black community or because people have had more time to listen to music and prefer music with more substance in these trying times, needless to say salute to all the artist and make sure you support the arts.

Statik Selektah – The Balancing Act
Having said all that, my album of the week is in line with the Grammy’s selections. Statik Selektah released his project “The Balancing Act” which features a ton of lyricism and head nodding beats produced by Statik Selektah. The project guest features include Black Thought, Nas, Jack Harlow, and several members from Griselda Records.
Juicy J – The Hustle Continues
Next on my list is another producer, Juicy J is back with a new project titled “The Hustle Continues”. This Memphis producer needs no introduction, he has been a staple in the hip-hop community for quite some time. Juicy J delivers high production that is certified to create a thousand Tik Toks in the next few weeks.
GtheSinger – Fame, Fortune, and Pain
On the local scene this week I have Gthesinger with his new project “Fame, Fortune, & Pain” that was released a couple of days ago. One of my standout tracks on the album has GtheSinger focusing his sexual energy on his lady of interest in “Business” which has a guest feature from Fresco Kane.
True on tha Trac – Beautiful
Last one for today is TRUE On Tha TRAC, this St. Louis producer has been on the scene producing high quality content for the last several years. TRUE has collaborated with Tef Poe and Aysia Berlynn for his latest single “Beautiful”. Please go check this out and much more on my playlist #EnforcerFridays, and have a good weekend!!!
