ST. LOUIS (February 2014) ST. LOUIS, Missouri, February 7, 2014 —Bissinger’s Handcrafted Chocolatier will once again provide motivation for the annual Run for the Chocolate race. All participants will receive chocolate “medals” at this fun 4 mile run/1 mile walk complete with hot cocoa and chocolate fondue. The course begins at Lumiere Place Casino in Laclede’s Landing and winds participants through the historic Laclede’s Landing and revitalized Old North St. Louis neighborhood before returning back to Lumiere Place.

Run for the Chocolate is produced by Big Shark Bicycle Company and Big River Running Company and athletes of all ages will race in their respective relationship status categories: Bachelor, Bachelorette, Off the Market Men, Off the Market Women, Happy Couples, Cougar or Manther. For those who do not like labels, the “It’s Complicated” category returns. T-Shirts for each category will visually indicate who is taken, who is available and who is undecided. The lucky winners in each of these categories will win dessert for two at Bissinger’s European Confectionery & Café in the historic Central West End and dinner at Lumiere Place. All finishers will receive Bissinger’s custom chocolate edible medals. In order to ensure proper chocolate nutrition, the course will feature chocolate stations along the route. Post race festivities will include a chocolate party at Morgan Street Brewery featuring chocolate fondue by Bissinger’s.

New for 2014, the race will have a Cupid Challenge. Cupid and Mrs. Cupid themselves will Run for the Chocolate. They are challenging all participants to run away from them and escape Cupid’s arrow. Any male or female over 21 who finishes ahead of Cupid (males) or Mrs. Cupid (females) will receive a FREE bottle of wine from www.letsclink.com.

The Run for the Chocolate will showcase the extent to which an athlete will go for chocolate while inviting couples and singles alike to demonstrate their dedication to athletics, health, romance and…chocolate.  For additional information and to register, visit www.runforthechocolate.com
