The celebration didn’t stop when the curtain came down. On Saturday, August 1, 2026, Muny Young Friends hosted “Ain’t Too Proud to Dance,” an exclusive late-night afterparty celebrating The Muny’s production of Ain’t Too Proud: The Life and Times of The Temptations.

Held at The Muny’s Culver Pavilion in St. Louis’ Forest Park, the 21-and-over event began at 11 p.m., giving theatergoers and supporters another opportunity to enjoy the energy surrounding one of the most anticipated productions of The Muny’s 108th season.

According to the official MetroTix event listing, the afterparty featured an open bar with Anheuser-Busch products, late-night bites, Broadway hits and themed specialty cocktails available for additional purchase. Tickets were priced at $47, including the service charge. 

Celebrating Ain’t Too Proud Beyond the Stage

The afterparty added another layer to The Muny experience by taking the excitement of the production beyond the stage and into a social setting.

Ain’t Too Proud: The Life and Times of The Temptations brings the story and music of one of Motown’s most legendary groups to the stage. With an iconic catalog and a story rooted in brotherhood, ambition, sacrifice and success, the musical provided the perfect inspiration for a night built around music and dancing.

“Ain’t Too Proud to Dance” also offered guests a chance to connect with other theater supporters while celebrating the arts in St. Louis.

Muny Young Friends Engages a New Generation

The event was hosted by Muny Young Friends, a community designed to connect younger supporters with The Muny and its mission.

Events like “Ain’t Too Proud to Dance” demonstrate how the organization can extend the traditional theater experience through social events that introduce audiences to another side of The Muny.

The official event description specifically invited guests to support The Muny’s mission while experiencing Ain’t Too Proud “in a whole new way,” with Young Friends members receiving access to a special event rate and additional perks. 

A Full Night of Theater, Music and St. Louis Culture

For audiences who attended the evening performance of Ain’t Too Proud, the 11 p.m. afterparty created an opportunity to keep the night going without leaving The Muny grounds.

The afterparty required its own ticket and did not include admission to the theatrical production. Guests attending the show needed a separate performance ticket. 

That distinction also made “Ain’t Too Proud to Dance” an experience of its own—bringing together nightlife, Broadway music and St. Louis’ theater community under one roof.

The Muny Continues Its 108th Season

The celebration arrived during another packed summer at The Muny, which is celebrating its 108th season in Forest Park. The institution describes itself as the nation’s largest outdoor musical theatre and welcomes more than 350,000 theatergoers during its nine-week season. 

With productions such as Ain’t Too Proud and experiences created by Muny Young Friends, The Muny continues finding ways to make musical theater part of a broader cultural and social experience in St. Louis.
