The 2018 Billboard Music Awards are back, and Kendrick Lamar and Bruno Mars are once again leading the pack. The newly awarded Pulitzer Prize winner shares the most nods with Bruno Mars and Ed Sheeran in the top categories including male artist and Hot 100 artist.
The three are tied with 15 nominations and are trailed by Post Malone with 13 nominations. Drake follows behind with nine and Cardi B with eight. Billboard along with NBC and Dick Clark Productions announced the nominations across 57 categories on Tuesday.
The top new artist nominees are 21 Savage, Camila Cabello, Cardi B, Khalid and Kodak Black. Black Panther and The Fate of the Furious were two of the soundtracks nominated in the film category.
Unlike the Grammys, the Billboard Music Awards are centered around artists’ popularity and reward chart performance. The awards are fan interactions that include album/digital song sales, streaming, radio play, touring and more.
The 2018 Billboard Music Awards will air on May 20 and will be live from the MGM Arena in Las Vegas—live on NBC.
