After a two-year hiatus, VERZUZ made its much-anticipated return on October 25th, and hip-hop fans couldn’t have asked for a more iconic face-off: No Limit vs. Cash Money. The legendary New Orleans powerhouses brought the heat to ComplexCon Las Vegas, reviving the energy of early 2000s Southern rap and reigniting the friendly (and sometimes fierce) rivalry that defined an era.
But while the night was steeped in nostalgia and star power, it wasn’t without its drama — and fans are buzzing about both the high notes and the sour moments that closed the show.
The Absences Everyone Noticed
For an event hyped as a “reunion for the culture,” some absences were hard to overlook. Fans were quick to point out that Turk, Mercedes, and perhaps most notably, Lil Wayne, were missing from the stage. Their absence left a noticeable gap, especially given their roles in defining the signature sounds of their respective labels.
Still, the show must go on — and Mia X and Juvenile made sure it did.
Mia X & Juvenile: The True MVPs of the Night
If the night belonged to anyone, it was Mia X and Juvenile. Mia X commanded the stage with her signature ferocity and poise, reminding everyone why she’s hailed as the “Mother of Southern Rap.” Her presence was both powerful and nostalgic, a reminder of No Limit’s unmatched influence on women in hip-hop.
On the other side, Juvenile lit up the crowd with his timeless energy. When the opening notes of “Back That Azz Up” dropped, the entire venue erupted — proof that some songs never lose their grip on the culture. Together, Mia and Juve carried the weight of their labels’ legacies with ease and authenticity.
Surprise Guests & Supportive Moments
One of the biggest surprises of the night came when Snoop Dogg hit the stage, bridging the gap between West Coast and Southern rap in true hip-hop unity. His appearance sparked a roar from the crowd and reminded everyone of the spirit VERZUZ was built on — celebration over competition.
Another moment that caught fans’ attention was Tamar Braxton showing up in support of Birdman, standing in for her sister Toni Braxton, Birdman’s longtime partner who was notably absent. Tamar’s presence added a touch of star power and family loyalty to the event.
When Celebration Turned Sour
Unfortunately, what could’ve ended as a legendary night took a sharp turn. Fans are criticizing Birdman (Baby) for ending the performance on a negative note, reportedly cutting the celebration short with tension instead of triumph. Many took to social media to express disappointment, saying the finale clashed with the unity and nostalgia the event was meant to represent.
Whether it was ego, emotion, or miscommunication, the abrupt ending left a bittersweet taste for an otherwise historic night.
The Culture Speaks
Despite the controversy, one thing is clear: the return of VERZUZ reminded everyone of its cultural importance. It’s more than a concert — it’s a time capsule, a celebration, and a reminder of where hip-hop has been and where it’s going.

As fans continue to debate who “won,” the real victory belongs to the culture itself — for showing up, showing love, and keeping the legacy of Southern rap alive.
