DELUX PEOPLE: Getting Know Tiara “The Furry Godmother”

DELUX: Tiara, for those who may not know your story, what inspired you to step into the fur and leather industry?
Tiara: I stepped into the fur and leather industry during the pandemic when our stores shut down. I taught myself marketing, moved the business online, and that opened the door for me to create FGM Bespoke. Fashion has always been in my DNA, and I wanted to re-imagine fur as sustainable, bold, and everyday luxury-not just something seasonal or traditional.
DELUX: Fur and leather are timeless materials- what do you think gives them such lasting appeal
in fashion?
Tiara: It’s an art form that deserves respect, but I balance that heritage with bold, fashion-forward choices-unexpected colors, cropped cuts, and mixing fur with denim or
streetwear silhouettes. For me, it’s about honoring the legacy of heirloom pieces while making them feel fresh, unapologetic, and wearable right now. That’s why I also up-cycle older furs, transforming
something passed down into a modern statement—luxury that keeps its roots but speaks to today’s culture.
DELUX: What does the process look like from concept to finished piece?
Tiara: My process usually starts with a spark-maybe I see something and think, okay, but what if it lad fur?’ I visualize it, go home, pick the fur, and get to work. It’s all about mixing old-school craft with a modern twist so the final piece feels bold, fresh, and
unapologetically.
DELUX: How do you respond to people who may have misconceptions about the fur and leather industry?
Tiara: Don’t believe the hype-do your homework. Fur and leather aren’t about controversy; they’re about craftsmanship and sustainability. Unlike fast fashion, fur lasts for generations, can be recycled or upcycled, and never ends up in a landfill.
DELUX: What’s your personal style when it comes to fur and leather? Do you have a favorite piece you own?
Tiara: My style is everyday, sustainable, unapologetic luxury. Right now, I’m obsessed with my fur heels and dresses-they’re bold, fun, and show that fur isn’t just for winter, it’s for whenever you want to make a statement.
DELUX: You’ve worked with clients from all walks of life what’s the most memorable
custom request you’ve had?
Tiara: My most unexpected request? Fur heels-and now they’re an absolute vibe. Saweetie just wore them in her latest video, and I’ve created looks for Latto, Mary J. Blige, WWE’s Becky Lynch, Angel Reese, DaVinchĂ, Dennis Rodman, and more. At the end of the day, it’s not about the weather-it’s about the fashion. And fur is fashion.
DELUX: As a Black woman entrepreneur in the luxury space, what does representation mean to you?
Tiara: Representation means everything-especially being one of the only Black women in a white, male-dominated, controversial, almost dying industry. I show up boldly so the next generation knows there’s space for them too.
And look, I know I can’t slip —the world’s just waiting to say, ‘see, this is why I don’t shop Black-owned.’ So I turn that pressure into power and make sure if they’re watching….. they’re watching me win.
