Living next to President Obama has it’s perks, but the constant state of security finally proved too “tedious” for homeowners Bill and Jacky Grimshaw, who recently started giving tours and accepting offers for their 6,000 square-foot Chicago home. The 17-room home at 5040 South Greenwood is situated in the Kenwood neighborhood, right next door to the first family’s Chicago home. The home was built in 1906 and was used to house officers stationed near Hyde Park in World War II, later becoming a boarding house for a small military school nearby. The Grimshaws bought the house in 1973 and in 2005, the newly elected Illinois senator and his family moved in to the house next door. The realtors are vetting potential buyers and will give tours of the house through October.
