all eyez on me

As of late, biopics and movies about celebrities have been in constant rotation throughout the film industry. Within the last few years, films/biopics about NWA, New Edition, TLC, Notorious BIG, Whitney Houston and even Toni Braxton have made their way across our televisions and movie screens. Next up on the biopic list, is All Eyez On Me. A film about the late, great rapper Tupac Shakur. The film is set to be a great follow up to Straight Outta Compton, a recent film about NWA that gave us a look behind the scenes of the West Coast rappers we have come to love. With Straight Outta Compton giving us a peek into Death Row Records, the film will pick up from our brief introduction with Suge Knight, other Death Row artists, and Tupac himself.

all eyez on me Directed by none other than well-known music video director, Benny Boom, the film is due to be released June 16th in honor of what would be the late rapper’s 46th birthday. Up to this point, we’ve seen some great depictions of celebrities lives and some not so great depictions (I won’t mention that Aaliyah movie). With an array of untold, juicy topics to explore about his life before we came to know him; I’m sure like Notorious, the film will touch on the infamous elevator robbery that began the hip hop beef between him and the late Notorious BIG and Bad Boy Records that lead to his untimely death.

Personally, I’m looking forward to being granted a deeper look into the mind of this brilliant man and exploring the intellectual side of him we saw glimpses of when he wasn’t caught up in the industry beef. Of course I can’t hide my excitement about the classic songs I know will be played throughout the movie. Hopefully, this film will live up to its hype and do wonders in the box office like its West Coast predecessor, Straight Outta Compton.

Because I will be there on June 16th with popcorn in hand! For a sneak peek at the All Eyez On Me trailer, click here
