Nevermind that a 6-inch diameter ball isn’t friendly to your laptop bag, the E-Ball’s all about bringing style to portable computing. By combining a laser keyboard (which actually exists), an optical mouse and a projector, the E-Ball has all the comforts of a desktop computer in a round package. No nearby wall for the projector? Slip a sheet of paper onto the included holder, and you’re good to go. The interface is imaginary, and stylized because it “makes the software easier to use,” according to designer Apostol Tnokovski. The E-Ball, which is just a concept and not a manufactured product, was one of 80 finalists in Microsoft’s 2007 Next Gen PC design competition.
