Happy African American Music Appreciation Month! I’m going to start this month off by showing love to my hometown of St. Louis. Throughout the years many artist from the St. Louis region have impacted the national music scene, from Chuck Berry, Nelly, Miles Davis, and the late Tina Turner who just recently passed.

The St. Louis music scene is once again impacting the national scene. From Jordan Ward, Big Boss Vette, to the latest sensation Sexyy Red, the St. Louis rap scene is once again in the limelight. Some of this success can be attributed to rap main stays Metro Boomin, and Smino who when given the chance rep hard for our region.

Metro Boomin Presents Spider-Man: Across The Spiderverse

Late last year Metro Boomin dropped his Heroes & Villains project to much success. Now Young Metro is following up with Spider-Man: Across The Spider Verse. Following in the footsteps of his theme from his 2022 project, Metro has a new comic themed rollout for Spider-Man.

The project features several past collaborators such as James Blake, Don Toliver, 21 Savage, Offset, plus a few new artist such as J.I.D and Nas whom fans have been waiting for a collaboration from. Notable songs you should may listen to first include, “Am I Dreaming,” “Hummingbird,” and “Nas Morales.”

Che Sanchez – ILL THINK ABOUT IT

Che Sanchez is a multi-talented producer, audio engineer, and actor on the St. Louis music scene. I first caught wind of Che Sanchez in 2019, when he released “Amen”. Sanchez sing song style is accompanied by his lo-fi to mid-tempo production that is sure to have you bobbing your head back and forth.

“Amen” (2019)

Sanchez describes his latest project ILL THINK ABOUT IT as a love letter to every thing he holds dear. Songs that I like on the project include Pray For Me,” “Often,” and “Say Sum.” You can catch Che Sanchez next performance at Blue Berry Hill on June 10th with his group Doug for the Beloved Benefit.

Gunna – Bread & Butter

Despite the criticism of the internet, Gunna has made his return to music after several legal issues and has a few things to say on his new song “Bread & Butter.”
