We are working together to build a community-owned healthy food cooperative that supports family nutrition and includes growing as much of our own food as possible.  We want to renew and rebuild the African-American culinary tradition of feeding our families healthy “soul” food using as much fresh fruit and vegetables and whole grains as possible.

Too many people in our community do not have reliable access to a sufficient quantity of affordable, nutritious food.  The big corporate food stores often leave low-income communities for the wealthier suburbs.  Too many of us don’t have dependable transportation to even get to a large supermarket and are forced to buy our food from convenience stores, fast food restaurants, and the “junk food “ industry.

We believe it is WRONG for these big food corporations to make huge profits from selling us food that is harmful, full of chemicals and GMOs.  We need to take control of our own food.
